Minister Coveney trials a 100% electric car

Minister for Agriculture, Food, the Marine and Defence, Simon Coveney TD, with MD ESB Networks, Jerry O’Sullivan, pictured at the ESB’s electric vehicle charge point at South Mall, Cork City. Minister Coveney will be driving the 100% electric Nissan LEAF over the coming weeks. During this time, the Minister will be able to charge the electric car using his home charge point, at any of the three European co-funded fast charge points in Cork, which are located at Frankfield, Commons Road and Rochestown, or use the network of 1,200 publicly accessible charge points.

Electric cars run at a fraction of the cost of conventional cars - approximately 10% - and utilises Ireland’s ever increasing supply of renewable electricity.
