Competitively Priced New Peugeot 2008 now on sale...

The smart new Peugeot 2008 is now on sale at very competitive prices as compared to other similar size compact crossover models. The 2008 is by no means a cut price special, as it comes fully equipped and with all the first class build quality that is synonymous with to-day's extensive Peugeot model range.

With a choice of efficient petrol and diesel engines, the new Peugeot 2008 is the ideal size for driving in town and country. Prices start from €18,595 ( plus delivery charges) for the 1.2 VTi 82bhp petrol Access version and from €19,515 (plus delivery charges) for the 1.4 HDi 70bhp diesel Access version.

At the Irish intro. Des Cannon, Peugeot Sales & Marketing Director said : “Peugeot’s new 2008 is an attractive proposition incorporating many virtues. It’s a compact and stylish vehicle that offers great passenger space and a higher driving position to instill a feeling of safety and security. Our latest-generation engines offer an exceptional driving experience, combined with a real breakthrough in performance and fuel economy with CO2 starting from just 98g/km, to allow 2008 to stand out from the competition. Indeed, the new Peugeot 2008 will not only have the widest range of petrol and diesel engines on offer in the segment, it will be unique in offering both petrol and diesel versions at sub-100g CO2.”

The 2008 measures 4.16m long and 1.74m wide and weighs just 1045kg. The wheelbase of 2.54m, as well as the specially designed front seat backs, gives good leg room for the rear seat passengers. Numerous storage compartments ensure keys, smartphones and other everyday objects always find a place in the 2008. Without leaving their seat, passengers can access the boot even when the vehicle is moving. From the outside, access to the boot is just as easy with a large rectangular opening and a low loading sill, just 60cm high, trimmed with a brushed stainless steel protector. The split folding bench seat allows you to increase load volume from 360 to 1194dm3, (22dm3 under the floor), with a single gesture. One press on the control at the top of the rear seat back is all it takes to fold the seat back.

Peugeot’s 2008 has been developed to offer passengers safety of the highest level. The small steering wheel ensures ease of control and driving precision. The head up instrument panel reduces the amount of time eyes are taken off the road. The large 7” touch screen to control audio / navigation is at the driver's fingertips. The driver can also count on the cruise control-speed limiter which is standard on all versions. All versions are fitted as standard with ESP, which combines anti-skid regulation (ASR), stability control (CDS), emergency braking assistance (EBA) and electronic brake force distribution (EBFD). The active footrest and the collapsible steering column contribute to the protection of the driver, while the connection between the front doors and the centre pillar is guaranteed by a retention pin.

Combined with its lightweight design and clean aerodynamics , a wide range of technologically advanced petrol and diesel engines ensures low fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The engine line-up includes:
• 1.2 l petrol VTi 82bhp 5-speed manual (CO2: 114g/km, Band A4)
• 1.4 l HDi diesel 68bhp 5-speed manual (CO2: 104g/km, Band A3)
• 1.6 l e-HDi 92bhp 6-speed manual Stop&Start (CO2: 103g/km, Band A3) • 1.6 l e-HDi 92bhp 6-speed EGC gearbox Stop&Start (CO2: 98g/km, Band A2)
• 1.6 l e-HDi 115bhp 6-speed manual Stop&Start (CO2: 105g/km, Band A3).

A new 1.2 litre petrol e-VTi 82bhp118Nm 5-speed EGC Stop Start offering CO2 emissions of 99G will go into production in October. In the following months, the 2008’s engine range will be extended further with versions of the turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine, with two new power outputs available: 1.2-litre e-THP 110 and 1.2-litre e-THP 130.

Three versions of the new Peugeot 2008 are: Access, Active and Allure. Standard specification across the range includes LED daytime running lights, air conditioning, ESP, cruise control + speed limiter, 6 airbags, front electric windows, a spare wheel, roof rails and child safety locks.

The Active model gains rear parking sensors, a leather steering wheel, auto wipers and lights, front fog lamps, electric folding door mirrors and 16” alloy wheels. Allure versions gain cornering fog lamps, a panoramic + LED feature glass roof, dual zone air conditioning, privacy glass, rear electric windows and external chrome pack.

The most effective feature of the Peugeot 2008 is the Grip Control, available from €255 on Allure models. This is a system patented by the PSA Group that optimises traction in conditions of poor grip. It offers a real alternative to traditional 4WD systems, without the price tag or high CO2 emissions. It combines a 165mm ground clearance, an advanced traction control system and Mud & Snow tyres. Versatile and flexible, Grip Control adapts to the terrain encountered by acting on the front wheels. The driver can decide at any time to select Snow, Off-Road, Sand, ESP Off or Standard mode using the dial located on the centre console.

Grip Control is worth the extra €255 as it is most effective when maximum traction is required in difficult weather and hazardous road conditions, particularly in winter driving. The effectiveness of Grip Control was shown to impressive effect when tried earlier this year in muddy conditions on a test drive in France.

Park Assist, available from €480 on 1.6 diesel models, automates parking manoeuvres and exiting to make moving in and out of tight spots easier, even on a hill. To activate the function, the driver selects the manoeuvre to be carried out, on the touch screen. Ultrasound measures the space and then parks or exits the vehicle by controlling the electric power steering. The driver brakes and accelerates as normal throughout the course of the manoeuvre, assisted by parking sensors.

The Sat Nav option + colour screen, available from €510 on Allure models, is pre-equipped with European mapping.

The new Peugeot 2008 is now on sale and available to test drive at Dealerships nationwide.
