Peugeot Celebrates 200th Anniversary with New Look Spectacular SR1 sportscar concept on show in Geneva By Brian Foley

Peugeot is celebrating 200 years of industrialisation in 2010. To coincide with this momentous occasion Peugeot has unveiled an exciting new styling direction for future models, a new corporate Lion badge and a new brand signature. The new-look Lion is epitomised by the spectacular new Peugeot SR1 concept car, which will be unveiled to the general public at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show in March. Dynamic, balanced and sensual, with an exclusive high-tech interior, the SR1 dream car is quite simply stunning. Unlike some bizzare and off the wall concepts, the SR1 is a ver practical sportscar, with room for three people as the third rear seat nestles in the middle, behind the two front seats. Entry to this seat is facilitated by the centre console, which can slide forward to improve access.

The SR1 concept incorporates HYbrid4 technology, a world first, which will be launched in the Peugeot 3008 in 2011. In the SR1, at the front, a 1.6 litre 218bhp petrol engine, is combined with a 95bhp rear electric motor. In electric-only mode, the car becomes a Zero Emission Vehicle, while its combined cycle fuel consumption is only 4.9 litres/100 km (119 g/km of CO2). When the two power trains operate simultaneously, the SR1 develops a potential maximum power of 313 bhp and also benefits from 4-wheel drive.

There is a distinct possibility that Peugeot will commit the SR1 to production within the next few years, to further highlight the new brand image of 'Motion and Emotion'.
